What this site is not

This is an independent guide, and three things follow from that. They matter more than the commission does.

• This site is not the cenotes. The cenotes around Tulum are owned and run variously by ejidos, Maya families, private eco-parks and the state. None of them is connected to this site, and nothing here is published on their behalf.
• This site is not a ticketing authority. There is no way to sell admission, hold bookings, take payment or issue refunds. Every booking on this site happens on the operator’s own platform, under that platform’s terms, with that platform’s customer service.
• This site is not the tour operators. The tours described here are run by independent companies. It has no contractual relationship with any of them and no ability to change what they do.

How this site earns

Booking links on this site carry a tracking code. If you follow one and book, the platform — Viator — pays a percentage of its own margin to the people who run this site. The traveller pays nothing extra, and the price is identical whether you arrive through this site or type the address in yourself. That is the whole arrangement.

Outbound booking links are marked in the page code as sponsored links, which is how search engines are told the relationship exists. Internal links between pages on this site carry no tracking and earn nothing.

What money cannot buy here

• Operators cannot pay for placement, position or a review. No operator has been offered, or has asked for, a paid slot. There is no advertising on this site and no sponsored content.
• Ordering is set by rule, not by commission. Tours are ordered by a confidence-weighted reading of their own published ratings, which weights a score by how many people gave it. A higher-paying tour does not move up.
• Compulsory fees are published whether or not they help. Most tours here add a per-person charge at the gate, and several charge more at the gate than the fare. Printing that reduces bookings on those tours. It is printed anyway, on the card, above the fold, because a traveller surprised at the roadside was badly served.

About the figures

Prices, durations, group caps, inclusions, ratings and review counts are the operators’ own, taken from their live listings and relayed here as stated. They are a snapshot, and they drift — prices change, promotions end, operators edit their own pages, and review totals move every week.

Where a listing contradicts itself, that is shown rather than resolved: arbitrating between them is not the job here, and choosing one figure silently would be worse than showing both. Always confirm the current price, the fee and the cancellation terms on the booking page before you pay.
